Jeremy’s surprise proposal story started with a heartwarming message: “I am surprising my girlfriend with a surprise trip to propose to her. We have never been to Canada, and this is such an exciting time for both of us.” As a Montreal engagement photographer, I was beyond excited to be part of such a special moment, and I just love capturing surprise proposals in Montreal!

When we spoke on the phone, I asked Jeremy to describe his girlfriend, and his words were filled with so much love, I could practically feel the connection between them. We discussed his vision for the proposal and decided that Mont Royal would be the perfect location. After a plane and a 6-hour road trip from their hometown, Jeremy and his girlfriend arrived in Montreal. I was in constant communication with Jeremy to make sure they found the path to the spot where he would pop the question.

Once they reached Mont Royal, I was hiding in plain sight, taking pictures like a tourist, eagerly waiting for Jeremy’s big moment. He stood in the middle of belvedere, shared how much he loved her, and then got down on one knee with the ring. At that moment, I started to slowly approach as she was jumping and she then looked at me. I thought I’d been caught, but I was surprised—she thought I was just a random person taking photos of them because they were a cute couple! I guess my acting skills were on point! 

Once the surprise was revealed, I introduced myself and let her know that Jeremy had hired me to capture their engagement photos in Montreal. She was over the moon, and they were both thrilled with the photos we captured.
